Wild elephants enter agriculture field

A herd of wild elephants entered agriculture field
near Harur town on Tuesday night.
A herd of six wild elephants passed through Pazhayapet area near Harur town on Tuesday night on its way to Vallimadurai Dam on the foothills of Sitheri hills, said an official.

The official said that the herd which was stationed near Vaachathi Reserve Forests moved into Mallankuttai area on Tuesday morning.

The herd stayed in Mallankuttai during day time and started moving towards Vallimadurai area nearly 25 km. from Vaachathi on Tuesday night via Kookkadapatti, Odasalpatti, Kudiyampatti, Achalwadi villages before passing through the Pazhayapet near Harur town in the early hours on Tuesday.

All along its route, the people in over 20 villages had sleepless night.

However, the forest officials cautiously followed the pachyderms and also give advance information to the public not to come out of their residence during night time.
